Angela Barker Jackson (Angie) is an ordained minister in the American Baptist tradition living out her call in the context of theological education. She has worked as a public-school teacher, served congregations as youth minister, solo pastor, and co-pastor and served as director of a shelter for unhoused women and children. Her Doctor of Ministry Project in formation for financial leadership led her to fundraising as ministry and served as the impetus for the attainment of additional credentials: Certified Fundraising Executive, Certificate in Fundraising Management, and Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising. Angie thrives in a learning community and enjoys lively and deep conversations about life, faith, books, music, art, poetry, travel, and food. She is both a solitary thinker and energetic collaborator.

Angie is a published author, workshop presenter, and seminar facilitator. A few of her works include the following:

“Pastoring During a Pandemic: Adaptive Leadership Formation in Times of Crisis” (co-authored with Jessica C. Williams, Reflective Practice: Formation and Supervision in Ministry, Volume 41, 2021.

“Courage to Change the Narrative: Money Stories We Were Told and Money Stories We Are Telling,” a workshop presented at the Gathering First Fruits conference for the Economic Challenges Facing Future Ministers initiative, Indianapolis, 2019.

A Guide to Ministry Self-Care: Negotiating Today’s Challenges with Resilience and Grace (co-authored with Richard P. Olsen, Ruth Lofgren Rosell, and Nathan S. Marsh), Rowman & Littlefield, 2018.

“Formed for Financial Leadership: Growing in Competence and Confidence for Ministry,” presented at Scholastica for women in ministry, 2018.

“Fundraising IS Ministry,” a workshop developed and facilitated for seminary students.

“Money and Your Ministry,” a master’s level seminar.

Angie has been married to Rev. Roger Jackson, an American Baptist minister and board-certified chaplain since 1995. They have a large, loud, and messy family of adult children and grandchildren scattered across the US and around the globe. Angie and Roger enjoy the company of Cato, their lab-shepherd dog and are avid fans of Indiana University basketball, KC Chiefs football, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
